Teachers using PLTW curriculum are welcome to join and will benefit from a deeper understanding of the programming, computational thinking, pedagogical concepts, robot hardware, and troubleshooting techniques we focus on. The Project Lead the Way teachers we have worked with have found our training to be a highly valuable complement to the PTLW training. You can earn professional development credits and a Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy Certification by completing various assignments throughout the course and passing an exam. This course focuses on learning how to teach programming and additional STEM concepts using the VEX Cortex robot. Tuition includes online access to CS2N and Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy Training Materials. In this web-based teacher training, you will learn to teach programming and STEM using robotics. To follow along with this course, you will need access to VEX Cortex hardware and the ROBOTC for VEX Robotics programming software (not included with tuition). They learn skills in leadership, community involvement, communication, finding their passions, and teamwork, which will position them for success well beyond their school years.Certified ROBOTC Training for VEX Cortex (Anytime Online) Through participating in PUSD middle school robotics, students learn more than just robotics. Classes are offered as electives during the day. The teachers go through training supported by PEF. Classes are taught by PUSD math or science teachers. The robots used in class are the LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot, and the programming languages taught is either RobotC or NXT-G, depending on the school. Pasadena Educational Foundation, in partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), has supported middle school robotics for more than 10 years. ![]() This Robo Rally has been generously supported by Honda and the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation. The school year culminates in an interschool Robotics competition, where students can exhibit their creative work and highlight their expertise for prestige (and prizes!). With a focus on autonomous decision-making and friendly competition, students discover their ability to solve real-world problems faced in disaster relief, industrial automation, healthcare, and more. Students in the Middle School Robotics program learn the core skills necessary to design, build, and program the robots of our future. Robotics is reshaping our world and beyond.
